About Acceptance…

Neill Strauss is one of my favorite non-fiction writers. These are his thoughts on acceptance of the tough stuff.

Really helpful on those days that feel like all you do is chew glass. Please share with someone going through it.

  1. The quickest way to make your life better is moving into acceptance. Accept what happened in your past. Accept where you are today. Accept who your partner truly is. Accept who you are, exactly as you are.

  2. Your worth doesn’t come from what you do, how much you make, or who’s around you. You are whole and complete as you are.

  3. A crucial nuance here: Acceptance doesn’t mean approval. If someone harmed us in the past, we don’t have to condone what they did. Or if we have acted against our own best interest through unhealthy habits, we don’t have to allow those same habits going forward.

  4. Instead, we can simply accept that what happened, happened. And how it is, right now, is how it is. And from there, from this present moment of what is, we can make a change and create what will be.

  5. The degree to which we experience wholeness is equal to the degree to which we accept.
