Hey Gang!

The result is in for the New Yearโ€™s pull up challenge.

Normally I do however many reps my age is on my birthday.

Last year I did 51 pull ups โ€” and a few to grow on โ€” along with a 25lb weighted pull up.

However, in January my podcast co-host, Jonni, wanted to do a 1 rep max pull up challenge for our respective birthdays.

Her goal was to do a strict pull up and mine was to do an 80lb weighted pull up.

Everybody joined in with that New Yearโ€™s enthusiasm and then everybody quit when the New Year lost its luster a couple weeks later.

So, it was just me today. Haha.

When I was 45 years old my 1 rep max weighted pull up was 75lbs.

I thought I could beat that this year by 5 lbs.

I was wrong.

Menopause, seven years of aging and longer recovery times really take a toll on maintaining and growing muscle.
