Advice I Wrote to Myself About Personal Success
The picture above is a note I wrote in my journal a while ago on becoming who I want to be and how.
It’s some of the best advice I’ve ever given myself.
What works for everyone is different…
… but thought I’d share with you because, upon reflection, when I manage to heed these words — and put them into action — I don’t regret it.
Here’s what I wrote:
“Persistence, focus, discipline, honoring commitments — not when it’s easy because anyone can do that — but in the face of temptation, tumult and tiredness.
This is how you make it and walk your talk.
Everybody’s all in and gung ho at the beginning of something new.
Few ever cross the finish line.
Persistence. Focus. Discipline. Honoring commitments. Develop these qualities to actualize your heart’s desire in just about anything.
‘Hard choices, easy life. Easy choices, hard life.’ - Jerzy Gregory
Handle the obstacles in front of you with the strength of a woman, not the grief of a child.
Don’t worry about outcomes. Focus on the fundamentals of proven strategies.
Make them your own. Iterate.
Strive for gratitude and non-judgment.
Run your own race.”
WEEK 4 - CYCLE 2 - STRENGTH
Week of Feb 17, 2025 - It’s failure week! So proud of you for staying the course and slaying the second of three strength cycles!
💪🏽 🍉Are you crushing watermelons with one hand yet?
If one of your goals was to be in shape for summer…
… remember: for that to be a healthy and sustainable reality, it needs to begin at least three months prior.
If you decide you want to be fit for summer sports, weddings, graduations, reunions, turning heads in your two-piece, or — simply caring for your health and wellbeing — you’re going to be too late if you begin when the sun starts warming your buns (for those in Northern Hemisphere).
Those who dawdle to make their health a priority in summer will reap the fruits of their labor in early winter.
Kinda like a harvest.
A farmer doesn’t begin growing food for the winter at the sign of the first frost, does she?
She plants the seeds waaaaay ahead of time. Before anyone’s even thinking of winter.
And tending to the harvest doesn’t get neglected just because it’s hard or inconvenient.
Every year around Memorial Day (May-ish), people come around wanting to get in shape for summer.
The no BS answer is, “You’re too late.”
Be the ant and not the grasshopper.
Here’s your workout for next week. Let’s go, grasshopper!
