Tanya and I were approached by very muscular young man while we’re were doing our cable triceps. We had just watched a video on how to perform the exercise. I thought we were doing them correctly. I felt the tricep burn. Anyway he stopped us and showed us how to do the exercise. To his credit it was exactly like the video we had just watched. We thanked him, but the back of my brain was screaming “mansplainer”!!!!

Ugh. I'm so sorry that happened to you, fren. I'm sure he feels like a real unsolicited hero.

The one thing about some isolated muscle movements like triceps, biceps, delts is that everybody's muscle belly inserts on the bone differently. Even on the two limbs of the same person. Moreover, some people have mobility issues due to injury, etc. I say this because what can help one person get that burn (mind muscle connection) may not work for others.

For example, I have to tweak the way I work delts (shoulders) and triceps because of the screws in one shoulder joint and limited mobility from injury in the other. What may help me get "into" the muscle I'm working might not work for you on these isolated exercises. If you're feeling the burn/pump on the muscle that's supposed to be worked and the "right" way doesn't always work for you, then go with what's allowing you to achieve the pump in accordance to your body. Proud of you for getting after it!
